Wow!

I know I've talked about, and heard about this before, though I don't know if it was with any of my TJR family. As my dear brother once said "Imagine the craziest thing in the world, and then remember that at least ten people before you thought of it already, and of those ten, at least one or two were crazy enough to try it."

And as you can see, whover though of this was as crazy as a shithouse rat...

Keith has prbably seen this clip before. Hell he's probably seen it live before! But for me and no doubt others, it's highly impressive.

I wondered how much a C-130 weighed compared to an F-14, and looked it up. The C-130 Wikipedia article mentions this event as the "largest and heaviest aircraft to land on an aircraft carrier."

Wikipedia lists empty weights of a C-130H (the carrier landing was a 130F) at 83,000 pounds, and an F-14D at 43,735.

You know, in watching it over again, I notice clearly the relative speed of the two vehicles. And as big as the C-130 is, it really isn't going that much faster than the carrier itself! I don't know what the landing speed of the C-130 would be, but IIRC, a carrier during flight operations is usually in the 35-40 knot range.
