F1 1988 carrera.4 - I don't know what the "carrera.4" means, and that might have prevented me from ever taking a look at this vehicle (and track) model. This model of the vehicles of the 1988 Formula 1 season is nicely done. The driving experience reflects the difference between in-car footage of F1 cars of this era and those of today - quite a bit more twitchy and violent (if that's possible) in the older cars. Still, there are times when I don't want the massive grip of the contemporary F1 vehicles, and it's rewarding to dance around the balance of mechanical grip and aerodynamic-enhancement that existed in this era of the post-tunnel cars.
In terms of driving satisfaction, I like the blend of quick response, intimate steering feedback, fairly high horsepower but somewhat manageable torque, and the visceral experience of a loud open-cockpit vehicle which is somewhat subdued in contemporary F1 rFactor models (and probably real-world cars as well). On my modest sim-racing hardware, this model also performs well.
The authors have also created six tracks in their 1988 F1 incarnations, including Silvestone, Spa, Paul Ricard and Estoril (I think).
